Data Catalogue

Return to the Loome website.

The Data Catalogue helps users track their reports and assets, and displays their relationships on Network Maps.

What is an Entity?

Reports and objects pulled from their data sources are Assets in the BI Catalogue, but are termed Entities in the Data Catalogue.

Entity Board

An Overview of the Data Catalogue

Users can find all Entities listed under their Entity type on an Entity Board.
Users can tag information to Entities using Custom Attribute fields and view all of these attached attributes on the Entity Board. The Entity Board can go into Edit mode to edit many Custom Attributes at once, and then provides the option to select filters derived from these attributes.
These Custom Attributes are also visible on the Network Map in a side panel when a user selects individual entities. Network Maps demonstrate connections between Entities and can also be viewed in Hierarchical form.

Overview of the Data Catalogue

There are four ways the Data Catalogue incorporates into the Loome Publish depending on the user’s application roles.

  • In the Data Catalogue, an Administrator can create and edit Custom Attributes, add new Entity Types, and organise metadata.
  • In the Data Catalogue and the BI Catalogue, a Data Steward can view and edit Custom Attributes and access Network Maps. In the Data Catalogue, a Data Steward can also view Entities.
  • In the Data Catalogue and the BI Catalogue, a Data Reader can view Custom Attributes, Entities and Network Maps.
  • According to the permission level of a user’s role in the Data Catalogue, users can view Network Maps and edit Custom Attributes in the BI Catalogue.
